- The steps of purifying water usually include the following main processes:
Coagulation sedimentation: This is the first step in purifying water. By adding coagulants (such as polyaluminum chloride and aluminum sulfate), small suspended solids and colloidal substances in the water are condensed into larger particles, which then settle to the bottom by gravity to remove impurities.
Filtering: After settling, water needs to pass through filtering media, commonly used being sand filtration and activated carbon. These media can effectively intercept impurities that are insoluble in water, making the water quality clearer.
Activated carbon adsorption: After filtration, using activated carbon to adsorb pigments, odors, and organic matter in water can not only improve the safety of water quality, but also enhance the taste of water.
Disinfection: The final step is disinfection, and commonly used disinfectants include chlorine gas and sodium hypochlorite. These disinfectants react in water to produce hypochlorous acid, which has strong oxidizing properties and can destroy the enzyme system of microorganisms, ensuring water quality safety.
